Building Permits in Buckeye

Buckeye's Development Services / Building Safety team administers building permits and inspections within city limits.

Current adopted codes

For applications first submitted on or after January 1, 2025, Buckeye requires its 2024 construction-code package, including the 2024 IBC, 2024 IRC, 2024 IMC, 2024 IPC, 2024 IFGC and 2023 NEC, with city amendments.

Permits and inspections

The city states that permits are required to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, improve, remove, convert or demolish buildings or structures, and also identifies fences, pools, spas, patios, solar work and reroofs among work requiring permits. Beginning March 30, 2026, inspection requests must be submitted online by 3 p.m. for the next business day; later requests are scheduled for two business days or the next available day, and the city expressly says the requested date is not guaranteed. A Certificate of Occupancy must be issued before occupancy of a new or previously unoccupied structure.

Fees

Permit charges depend on the city's current schedules and project scope. Buckeye separately publishes development-impact fees; the currently posted update took effect May 5, 2025. Project-specific design documentation should be confirmed with the city before filing.
