Building Permits in Ogden

Ogden building permits are administered by the city's Building Inspections division. The division issues building and related permits and inspects new construction, remodels, tenant improvements and other permitted construction. Building inspections are scheduled through the city at 801-629-8950. Ogden's published basic inspection requirements include posting the address, keeping approved plans on site, providing required access, and obtaining applicable Fire, Engineering, Water or Business Licensing approvals before final inspection. The exact inspection sequence depends on the work.

Fees

Ogden publishes a $70.50 plan-review submittal fee for both commercial and residential plan review. Building-permit fees themselves are governed by the city's municipal fee provisions and depend on the permit/project. Applicants should use the current city calculation rather than a generic valuation estimate. Separate engineering, utility or other project-specific charges may apply when those approvals are involved.

Review time

The official sources reviewed do not support one universal plan-review duration for all Ogden building permits. The city notes that simple residential projects such as a basement finish or existing-space remodel may be eligible for over-the-counter review, while most commercial projects require multi-department review. Applicants should rely on the city's current submittal process and permit status rather than generic online estimates.
