Building Permits in Fontana

The Fontana Building & Safety Department administers building permits, plan checks, and construction inspections.

Permit Process

Fontana's current Plan Check page states that a first review typically takes about 3–4 weeks and a subsequent review typically takes about 2 weeks after amended plans are submitted. The city separately lists about 3–5 business days for qualifying expedited solar reviews. These are published plan-check estimates for the stated process, not guarantees for every permit.

California's 2025 Title 24 Building Standards Code became effective January 1, 2026. Fontana local amendments and project-specific agency requirements must also be checked.
