Building Permits in Meridian

Meridian's Building Services division, within Community Development, administers structural, fire, electrical, mechanical and plumbing permits for projects inside the city. Applications are filed through the City's Citizen Access Portal, with electronic plan review through ProjectDox.

Codes and permit scope

The City's current adopted-code resources identify the 2018 IBC and 2018 IRC, together with Meridian local amendments and separate electrical, plumbing, mechanical and fire-code resources. Because specialty-code amendments can change independently, applicants should confirm the edition that applies to each discipline before filing.

Building Services lists new construction, remodels, mobile homes, fences, sheds, garages, foundations, fireplaces and demolition among the work it handles. Permit exemptions are code- and scope-specific; this page does not generalize an exemption from another Idaho jurisdiction.

Review, inspections and fees

Meridian publishes an application/permit-timeframe resource and current fee schedules rather than one universal review duration or permit price. Citizen Access is used to apply, track permits, pay fees and schedule inspections. Required inspections depend on the approved scope.
